Omobayo Azeez is a strategic communications specialist with nearly a decade of experience in journalism, information management and stakeholder’s engagement. He is currently the Team Lead and Managing Editor of Business Metrics Limited, a company he founded in 2020. Beyond the newsroom, Omobayo is the convener of the high-impact Policy Implementation Assisted Forum (PIAFo), a leading initiative focused on steering policy dialogues from formulation to effective implementation.
Through the platform, he has led various convening projects especially in the digital economy space, including promotion of indigenous content in the Nigerian telecommunications sector (2021); National Conference on the deployment of 5G technology in Nigeria (2022); establishing measurable metrics for local content application in telecom sector (2022) and development of a national dig-once policy and fibre deployment strategy in Nigeria (2022).
Others include national dialogue on Nigerian Information Technology Development Bill (2023); National Summit on Nigeria’s Renewed Digital Economy Agenda (2024); and most recently, a Strategic Summit on the effective implementation of Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) Order under the Cybercrime (Prevention, Prohibition, Etc) Act.
Currently, Azeez is leading two new projects – Rural Connectivity Summit and Africa Aviation Convergence ([www.afacon.africa]Afacon), designed to bridge various stakeholder engagement gaps and accelerate development in the two spaces.
Azeez also doubles as the Board Secretary of Pro-poor Development Media Network (PDM-Network). He was recognized as the ‘ICT Editor of the Year’ at the Tech Innovation Awards (TIA), 2022. He won the Excellent Award in ICT Reporting at the Maiden National Media Community Award (NMCA 2022) and in the same year, he emerged Winner of OnePipe Press Writing Challenge.
Azeez is a holder of National Diploma, Higher National Diploma and Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and Crescent University, respectively. He has undertaken various capacity building training in media, strategic communications, policy implementation and personal development.
